March Manuscripting: Making It Count

This probably should have gone in the plot and structure post for this month, but I just saw it, and it was too good to edit in. The talented D. S. Thornton has a page with lots of writing information, but the part about advice for new writers is what caught my eye. If you’ve got a self-edit checklist, or if you’re struggling with a story, you might compare the tips with a chapter or two to see if you’ve happened upon a pitfall. I see every one of the bullet points in manuscripts, and while I believe you can break any rule of writing, a lot of the problems are things that sneak into manuscripts, and that will strengthen your story if you can get them to sneak back out!

March Manuscripting: Plot and Structure

Hmm. Looks like I didn’t ever fill out the blog page I used to have on writing resources. I have a folder in my e-mail, plenty of browser bookmarks, and a bunch of paper-based resources to put together. In the meantime, check out this post on plot and structure–and I’ll post more favorites later (besides, the linked post might keep you busy for a while).
